Kip Kompakt, a light-weight elevating roof caravan

As a small size caravan the Kip Kompakt does justice to its name. Its modest dimensions make it ideal for smaller tow cars, and with its elevating roof lowered it fits easily under most carports.

The light-weight design and excellent manoeuvrability contribute to a carefree journey. Its characteristic design is bound to be noticed by other road users. Unfortunately, those spectators cannot see inside. That’s your privilege, once you have reached your destination and the holiday has started.

Driving features

Good visibility of your caravan and other traffic contributes to a relaxed journey. You have to be able to see the caravan and the traffic behind it at a single glance. Because of its compact size this is clearly not a problem for the Kompakt, and towing mirrors are normally not necessary*.

Exploring small alleys in picturesque villages is easy with the Kompakt. Because of its narrow exterior width of 183 centimetres, you can go wherever you like without being held back by your caravan’s size.

* Provided that your car’s wing mirrors are visible when you look in a straight line towards them from behind your caravan.

Kompakt Draaicirkel

You’ll never again turn into an unknown road, and then find you can’t go any further with your caravan. Where larger caravans have to turn round when there are sharp zigzags in the road, you can keep going without any problem with your Kompakt. Its high degree of manoeuvrability and its small turning radius mean that no bend is too narrow and no route is too tricky. With your Kompakt, you can plan your ideal route without any worry, or spontaneously deviate from it.

From the start, the Kompakt has been designed with small tow cars in mind. Because of its light weight the Kompakt feels very comfortable at the back of your car. So much so, that you might almost forget it’s there from time to time. Whether you drive along the sun-blessed coast in the south of France or conquer the Swiss Alps, the Kompakt will follow you effortlessly.

The new Kompakt preserves the characteristic design. Minor improvements, like the windows recessed in the wall, give the upgraded Kompakt an even more attractive appearance. The familiar robustness of the exterior sheeting is now available in three finishes: traditional whitewash, a colour scheme designed by Kip, or your own colour scheme.

You can travel in all weathers. Both the elevating roof and the compartment hatches have been made from ABS, and the front and rear walls are from polyester. The elevating roof’s tarpaulin has been produced by De Waard, a company renowned in the camping world for its high-quality products. All these materials were carefully selected for their resistance and durability. These features mean that the Kompakt can withstand the worst weather conditions, while it will keep its value for many years.

In spite of its very small exterior dimensions, the Kompakt is a good-sized caravan. Two different layouts are available, and you can choose the one that suits you best.

The Kompakt Adventure

The Kompakt Adventure has the kitchen on the left when you enter, and the sitting and sleeping area on the right. Its most distinctive feature is the variable sanitary unit. When the toilet is needed, part of the kitchen worktop is collapsed, which creates a sanitary area with privacy. When the toilet is not in use, it can be hidden from view by means of a folding worktop.

Kompakt Travel

The Travel has a two-seater on the left, and the traditional seating and sleeping area on the right. You can create a third bed by folding the two-seater. An optional Porta Potti under the two-seater can be used as a simple sanitary toilet.

Both the Adventure and the Travel are equipped with a high-quality Victron Energy battery. The converter in the Blue Power IP22 battery has a high efficiency of up to 94 % and produces up to four times less heat in comparison with the industry standard. The Blue Power IP22 has an adaptable load algorithm. This will optimise the charging process, depending on how you use the battery. This means that you can recharge silently, with the reassurance that this will be done as intelligently as possible.

Neat and tidy. The Kompakt offers a large amount of storage space in the form of cupboards, drawers and shelves, so you can find a space for all your things. Cleverly located sockets ensure that you can plug in electrical equipment within easy reach everywhere. All your food and drink will fit into the 70-litre Dometic fridge, and when it’s time to prepare a meal you can use the spacious 3-ring gas hob.
